How Do I Get Snow Removal?

Image Salt and Plow will arrange a time to either meet with you on site, or over the phone (if the property is visible on Google Earth) where we will go over the exact needs of your location (i.e. snow piling locations? sidewalks? parking stalls? etc.). Once we find out which area’s you want to be serviced, we will submit a proposal, usually within 24 hours, where you can go over the terms and conditions of the arrangement. We work on a contract basis only, which means we come automatically 24/7 when the weather and contract dictates we should arrive. This is for your protections both physically and legally, so that we mitigate the risk of any slips and falls.

Why do I need a contract?

No one likes the word contracts, but insurance sure does! When you enter into a contract with Image Salt and Plow, it means your site will be taken care of in a timely matter, automatically. When you agree to our pricing and terms, we put you on a route which means as soon as the weather forecast calls for either ice control or snow removal, we come as soon as possible to take care of your site. You don’t have to call us or worry about finding someone to show up. We do not work on an on call basis.

How do I know Im not getting over/under serviced?

Our contract stipulates when we come, and at what frequency. The end goal is to make sure everyone on site is safe, and that as much liability as possible for you is covered should a slip and fall ever occur. Some years we have lots of snow and ice, and some years are mild. You can expect between 20 and 30 site visits a year, with 1-5 snow clearings as well.

Do you work on an “on call” basis?

We do not work on an “on call” basis. This is both for your protection and ours. While we recommend to seek legal advice about liability (we are not lawyers), it is generally understood that by having a proper contract in place for your strata or small business, your insurance will be more likely to cover you if an incident ever occurred. Also, most instance policies require a contract to be in place as part of your building insurance.

How long is a contract term?

We offer 1, 3, and 5 year terms. We recommend the 5 year term as it is cancellable at anytime with written notice without penalty. When you sign a 3 or 5 year term, you are guaranteed the pricing quoted for the entire term, and, as prices generally tend to go up, you are locked in and safe at the lower price.

How does pricing work?

At Image, we keep the pricing simple. There is a flat fee each time we perform an ice control service (salting), and a flat hourly fee every time the snow falls. For snow removal, this means you generally pay less, as most of our snow removals are under 3 inches and fairly quick. When snow removal is quoted as a lump sum total per occurrence, its usually estimated as a “worse case” price (8-12inches) which means you are paying more. We keep a log book of each time we salt and each hour we plow.

Do you do sidewalks?

Yes, most of them. Generally speaking, in a strata, the homeowners individually are responsible for clearing the walkway to their front door. We come along and clear the snow on the roadways (and parking stalls if included). We can also clear the city sidewalk in front of the building, and any common area sidewalks inside the strata. For businesses, we can take care of shovelling right to the front door, as well as the city sidewalks.
